As a wedding photographer I am lucky enough to get to frequently visit some amazing Swan Valley wedding venues. It’s hard to believe that Swan Valley is just 25 minutes east of the city because when you’re there, city life feels like it’s a world away.
This award-winning wine region is a magnet for foodies, wine lovers, wildlife, those pursuing an outdoor lifestyle and for art, history and indigenous culture. Add to that the award-winning vineyards, over 70 restaurants and cafes and some simply stunning countryside and it won’t surprise you to learn that Swan Valley has some spectacular wedding venues.
Wedding photography at Nikola Estate
Nikola Estate has a rich history as Australia’s second oldest winery. It offers a scenic wedding venue amongst its historical buildings and lush gardens. Amongst its many picturesque wedding locations, it offers a romantic secret garden under a host of Norfolk pine trees. Or you can choose to say ‘I do’ under the beautiful Jacaranda Trees or in Nikola Estate’s original homestead gardens.

Swan Valley's Premier Wedding Venue
Mandoon Estate is one of the premier wedding venues in the Swan Valley. Today it stands as a multi-award-winning boutique winery, and an exceptional wedding venue with luxurious modern accommodation. Its restorating has been lovingly undertaken to honours its rich cultural heritage as well as making the most of the spectacular scenery around it.
With architecture that compliments the landscape guests can enjoy a reception drink on the deck overlooking the river, enjoy an outdoor ceremony on their pristine ceremony lawn. Then party the night away in their stunning purpose-built function centre.
When I capture wedding photography at Mandoon Estate, I let the fantastic scenery, gardens and architecture provide me with an endless backdrop when telling the story of my clients weddings.
Swan Valley Winery Wedding Venue
Sandalford is one of the most popular Swan Valley wedding venues and it's easy to see why. This historically rich winery has a real rustic charm about it. It offers four elegant function rooms. My favourite is the Oak Room as it has oak panelled walls, rustic barrels, wrought iron chandeliers and luxurious ceiling drapes that all make amazing backdrops in my images.
Ceremonies can happen indoors or outside on the Chenin Lawn at the heart of the vineyard surrounded by historic vines, or on the Merlot Lawn with views over the lake and terraces to the south of the estate.
For a big celebration the underground cellar is perfect as it can accommodate up to 250 guests. Stacks of aging American oak barrels, soft lighting and elegant draped ceilings create a chilled ambience perfect for a wedding celebration.
The thing I love best about photographing weddings at Sandalford Winery is its beautiful surroundings. It’s a stunning wedding location regardless of the time of day, year or whatever the weather. I can always work with whatever nature gives me to create beautiful and timeless images of my couples wedding days.
Wedding photography at Oakover Grounds
Oakover Grounds is a leading Swan Valley wedding venue. Beautiful vineyards producing award-winning wine, with multiple function areas all set in an idyllic and picturesque setting.
Oakover Grounds offer three different wedding places. There’s ‘The Island’ which is located in the middle of the tranquil lake, ‘The Deck’ which is delightfully set on the edge of the lake with gorgeous lakeside views or ‘Under the Trees’ for an idyllic shaded ceremony with a vineyard backdrop.
Or you can choose your own spot within their many hectares.
When I document weddings at Oakover Grounds, I love that the venue offers stunning 360-degree views of breath-taking countryside that give me the most perfect backdrop in all of my images.
Beautiful Swan Valley Wedding Venue
Barrett Lane is a favourite wedding venue with Swan Valley wedding photographers because it so photogenic. This modern winery has high timber beam ceilings, glass windows that throw in tons of natural light and a balcony overlooking the vineyards.
The relaxed atmosphere, beautifully crafted gardens and rustic feel at Barrett Lane have never failed to leave guests with a real sense of joy and love from their time at the venue. What Swan Valley wedding photographers love about Barrett Lane is the position of the venue and how it works exquisitely with the light throughout the day. If you want spectacular sunset shots then Barrett Lane is the wedding venue for you.
All functions are complemented by the catering offered by the venue’s exclusive partner, Showcase Catering and Barrett Lane has a BYO beverage option, which is incredibly rare in a wedding venue of this calibre.
When I photograph weddings at Barrett Lane, I love to capture romantic portrait images of my couples in the beautiful garden courtyard and take them out for an image or two amongst the vines as the dappled sun starts to set.
Romantic Swan Valley Wedding Venue
If you’re looking for a truly romantic and beautiful Swan Valley wedding venue then you should definitely take a look at Brookleigh Estate. This French Chateau inspired equestrian property is renowned for its beautiful garden weddings and has six unique locations for ceremonies and receptions.
Couples have the freedom to personalize every detail, bringing their own suppliers of food, beverages and styling. This ‘Bring Your Own’ wedding supplier option is fairly unusual for venues in Swan Valley making Brookeligh Estate perfect for couples who want to really put their own stamp on their wedding day.
When I capture weddings at Brookleigh Estate, I love the outdoor ceremony spaces. The courtyard has lush spa gardens. The secret garden has a magical feel with a fairy lit Wisteria Lane. There’s also a beautiful glass conservatory, the pristine lawn and the lakeside. And even after all that, you’ve still got the chateau to explore. Meaning that when it comes to spectacular backdrops and scenery for wedding photos you really are spoilt for choice.
Wedding photography at Riverbank Estate
Riverbank Estate is simply a stunning wedding venue. Their architecturally designed restaurant has wide verandas that give uninterrupted views of this beautiful setting. To the front of the restaurant there’s a lawn area perfect for outdoor ceremonies as it has stunning views of the vineyard and the Swan River.
For larger celebrations Riverbank Estate have a transparent marquee that can be erected on the lawn to make the most of these spectacular views.
Riverbank Estate is a great wedding venue for foodies as is evidenced by their award-winning wines and restaurant.
When I document weddings at Riverbank Estate, I loved getting images of my couples in front of the artistic fantasy wall at the front of the winery. It makes a truly unique backdrop in wedding photos.
