Sydney Wedding Photographer

I am so lucky to be able to call myself a Sydney wedding photographer. Sydney is without a doubt Australia’s most famous city and is home to Australia’s most famous landmark The Sydney Opera House. Sydney offers an intoxicating blend of exhilaration with a laid-back vibe with something for everyone.

Whether you choose to take in the culture at Sydney’s many museums and galleries, or hang out with the hipsters at Barangaroo, or head to the surf at the world-famous Bondi beach. Or pay a visit to amazing Darling Harbour, known as Sydney’s harbourside playground it’s the best place to eat, drink, shop and enjoy events and attractions. The more adventurous of you can climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge and take in the magnificent views.

With all this to offer, Sydney is also the perfect location for an engagement or pre-wedding photoshoot. As an experienced engagement and pre-wedding photographer, I always recommend a photoshoot before your wedding day. It’s a chance for the two of you to get used to being photographed by me and I can share handy hints and tips to help you to relax in front of the camera so that I can capture natural candid moments in my distinct documentary style. Many of my pre-wedding photoshoot clients go on to use the images in their wedding stationery.

Let’s face it, a trip to Sydney is on everybody’s bucket list so where better to have your wedding and start your married life.

Needless to say, Sydney has some spectacular wedding venues that really showcase this amazing city at its very best. I have chosen my favourite three, I had to be strict with myself as Sydney has so many wonderful wedding venues, but I have managed to pick my three and they are detailed below.

Terrara House is a listed building built in 1836 by a pioneer French tea trader. Even as an experienced Terrara House wedding photographer, I still get a fizz of excitement as I arrive at the entrance and drive down the breath-taking tree lined driveway and get my first glimpse of the majestic house.

The team at Terrara House pride themselves on making each wedding truly unique, actively encouraging their couples to personalise the event as much as they want. They even offer a self-catering and BYO option which is rare for a Sydney wedding venue of this calibre.

Whether you’re looking for a small and intimate wedding in one of Terrara’s stunning indoor – outdoor spaces, or looking to have a large marquee celebration, the team will talk you through every aspect of planning your perfect wedding.

When I shoot wedding photography at Terrara House, I love capturing romantic outdoor ceremonies in the 17 acres of beautiful gardens. Couples can choose from many outdoor locations around the gardens though my favourite is seeing couples say ‘I do’ under a beautiful 100-year-old fig tree.

The estate also has a swimming pool, tennis court or wellness salon, and a concierge service who can arrange local activities for your guests like trips to microbreweries and vineyards, or to Jervis Bay beach, on bush treks or for a round of golf. And with luxury accommodation for up to 20 guests, you and your wedding guests just won’t want to leave.

I just love, love, love shooting wedding photography at The Grounds of Alexandria. This magical wedding venue is characterised by canopies of twinkling fairy lights, bubbling fountains, crawling vines and abundant planting all thrown to gether to create a magial urban oasis/wonderland in the heart of Sydney.

Fantastically photogenic The Grounds of Alexandria has to be seen to be believed, and they offer great flexibility catering for weddings from intimate with just 12 guests through to large with 400 guests making The Grounds of Alexandria perfect for large and Asian weddings.

The Grounds of Alexandria offer a host of perfect spaces for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Mix and match to suit the style, size and budget of your wedding. The first of these spaces is The Linseed House with its exposed heritage brick walls and art deco styling. Then there’s The Garden which is a beautiful outdoor space overflowing with greenery, herbs, flowers and fairy lights. Then there’s The Atrium with its Parisian inspired garden that brings the outdoors in and captures a timeless essence of romance. Lastly, there’s the bold and playful The Patio, I love its distinctive chequerboard floor and festoon lighting making it a magical space for a wedding celebration.

What makes weddings at The Grounds of Alexandria really special is the wonderland feel of their outdoor weddings, beautiful planting and pretty fairy lights always create a magical setting that always delight couples and their guests.

Vaucluse House is a historic wedding venue with an enviable harbourside location in East Sydney. Boasting 10 hectares of utterly picturesque gardens it is one of Sydney’s few 19th century mansions. Tranquil Vaucluse House has beautiful and adaptable interiors allowing couples to have their wedding done their way.

Wedding ceremonies can take place outside in the lush and photogenic gardens or in one of the elegant rooms in Vaucluse House.

The serenest spot for an outdoor ceremony is on the lawn under the beautiful willow trees that provide a beautiful backdrop and some shade. It makes a gorgeous and romantic setting for a wedding ceremony.

After your ceremony, you can choose to have your own elegant private garden party with cocktails and canapes with food stations that will delight your guests. Pearl Catering offer award winning 5-star food, created in collaboration with you so that each and every wedding has its own bespoke menu.

So, if you’re currently planning your Sydney wedding, I hope this blog has been helpful to you. These are just three of the amazing Sydney wedding venues on offer. As I discover more, I’ll keep you posted about them.

But don’t just take my word for it. The most fun part of planning a wedding is getting to visit beautiful wedding venues in stunning locations – so have fun with it.
