Throughout the years I’ve developed several helpful hints which I always provide to the bride and groom on the wedding day. Here they are!
Clean Your Room
You may be a messy person by nature and that’s fine. However, keeping your room clean can make a huge difference, giving you beautiful photos. You don’t need to clean the room from top to bottom, but by putting a few things away it will be very helpful.
Choose A Big Open Room With Windows To Get Ready
A large room with nice, natural sunlight is a photographer’s dream. It doesn’t need to be your room. But try to choose a large room of the house, even the living room. It will help to light up the whole room, providing beautiful light, giving you lovely images.
Get Ready Next To The Window
Window light helps to provide natural light and gives a nice contrast to the images. So for makeup, set up next to the window, and boys, when putting on your shirt, tie, and cuff links, try to do it near a nice open window.
Don’t Leave It Too Late
Plan to be ready early, allowing enough time (1 hour) for some nice photos with your groomsmen/ bridesmaids. There’s nothing worse than having to rush on your big day. Take your time, enjoy these moments with your friends and loved ones.
Include Your Family
Having your family and bridesmaids/groomsmen with you during this time makes it even more special. The look on your parents’ faces when they see you ready for your big day is one of such emotion. They are seeing their daughter or son on one of the most significant days of their lives.
Start the Day Right: Get a Good Night’s Sleep
Getting a good night’s sleep is essential before your big day. Make sure you get at least eight hours of sleep to ensure you wake up feeling refreshed and energized. With a full night’s sleep, you’ll be able to tackle the day with a clear mind and a happy heart.
Plan Ahead for Hair and Makeup
Before your wedding day, schedule a trial run with your hair and makeup artist to ensure you get the look you desire. Knowing what you want ahead of time will help you relax and enjoy the process, so make sure you bring along pictures or examples of what you’re after. On the day, make sure you have plenty of time set aside for hair and makeup, so you don’t feel rushed.
Choose a Comfortable and Stylish Outfit
Choosing an outfit that is both stylish and comfortable is essential on your wedding day. Opt for breathable fabrics that won’t cling or make you feel too hot. Don’t forget to accessorize with comfortable shoes, so you can dance the night away without worrying about sore feet.
Take a Moment for Yourself
It’s important to take some time for yourself on your wedding day, away from the hustle and bustle. Take a moment to enjoy the scenery, meditate, or reflect on the day ahead. It’s a great way to calm any nerves and start the day feeling centered and at peace.
Don’t Forget to Eat
With all the excitement of the day, it can be easy to forget to eat. However, skipping meals can lead to low energy levels and feeling faint. Make sure you have a healthy and hearty breakfast to keep you going throughout the day. Don’t forget to hydrate too, especially if it’s a hot day.
